Ideas for glamorous girls birthday party themes that have proven to be a success with our customers
Princesses, fairies and mermaids, I am sure you all picture girls parties where it's all glitz and glam, but is it really so? Do girls only care about Princesses, fairies and mermaids, or does their need for exploration and imagination play a role? Well, read on and you shall find out. We proudly present our list of the 10 most popular birthday party themes for girls and we hope this list will ease your task of organising your children's birthday party.
10. Cinderella Theme
As you might have guessed, we begin with a princess. In 10th place we have our beloved Cinderella in her beautiful blue dress with all her animal friends at her side. Cinderella makes a great girl's party theme and is something you might want to combine with hiring in a Cinderella character. There are lots of party supplies and accessories available for this theme. You should check out the tiaras, they look brilliant, and the treat purses for the guests to take home are also popular. The sticker sheets go well inside the loot bags as do the Cinderella tattoo sheets. Make an effort with the birthday cake, making it look like a fairytale castle and you will have a very happy girl.
9. Curious George Theme
Curious George, our 9th most popular party theme, is a cheeky, but cute and amusing monkey, very eager to explore his surroundings. Younger children love this monkey, both girls and boys, and there is lots of variety available in party supplies, more than enough to create a fantastic pre-schooler birthday party. Along with the cups, plates and napkins, there are invitations, decorations, games, stickers and lots more accessories. Because the colours in this theme are quite basic, maybe try combining this theme with plain coloured themes, just red or green or blue or a mix of colours. Look out for the cool bubble bath monkeys, they make a great contribution to the loot bag for this theme.
8. Strawberry Shortcake Theme
The amazing Strawberry Shortcake and her friends are the perfect theme for adventurous girls. These girls have been around for a while, but the relaunch in 2009 saw their popularity rise again to new heights. The cups, plates and napkins for this theme are vibrant and colourful so if you decorate your party room with some really nice balloons and dangling decorations, your party will look stunning. Fill up your loot bags with some really nice sticker sheets, tattoos and the like and check out the cupcake decorations, they look gorgeous on top of cupcakes. With your home made cupcakes and party decorations in place, your Strawberry Shortcake party will be a sure success.
7. The little mermaid Ariel Theme
Mysterious mermaids have always stimulated little girls' imaginations and have created a lot of childhood magic in the homes throughout the years. The little mermaid Ariel has of course contributed soundly to this together with her encouraging friends, Sebastian and Flounder. If you want a party theme with myriads of accessories, this would be one of them. Again, you can get some nice looking Ariel tiaras that are a great take home gift in itself, the different balloons and the decorations are also worth a mention as they do look nice around the party room. Check out the cake tin and the edible cake image, you can either attempt making a cake in the shape of beautiful Ariel's head, or you can take the safe way out and make a traditional circle cake and just put the edible cake image on top of the icing. Whatever you do, I think Ariel is a fabulous theme for any girl's birthday party.
6. Birthday Princess Theme
Our 6th most popular theme is the Princess Pamper Party theme. Choosing the Birthday Princess theme for your party offers an endless number of possibilities. You can mix and match the way you like it with accessories and trinkets from a mixture of themes and party ware from the plain coloured themes. Just make sure you stick to the pink and purple, otherwise you might get in trouble from your own little princess. Try the Kiss the Frog party game which looks like a lot of fun and fill your loot bags with some bubble bath unicorns or princesses. Put yours and your kids imaginations together with a bit of hand craft to create a successful and fun party with the help of this theme.
5. Disney Fairies - Tinker Bell Theme
Tinker Bell, or just Tink, is the famous fairy from the Peter Pan movie from the 1950s. She has been a girl's favourite ever since, but she and her fairy friends gained even more popularity in the mid 2000s when the Disney Fairies franchise was introduced with the release of a series of books and movies. Of course the fairies also became very popular as a girl's birthday party theme and if you look around, you can get some really snazzy party supplies and accessories to spruce up your party. Go for the balloons and dangling decorations, but just as important, get some of the cool loot bag fillers that are available in this theme. There is green body glitter, tattoos, pencils, erasers and rings, all the things little girls just adore to get.
4. Fairies Theme
Garden fairies, fairy princess or Fairy party, these all make up the Fairies theme. Choosing Fairies theme for your birthday party is a more generic (or at least non-Disney) approach to having a Fairy themed party. There is lots of accessories and decorations available using a theme like this because you can easily mix and match products from other themes with this one and add your own personal touch. Keep an eye out for the latex balloons and also the foiled ones, they make really nice party decorations. Again, lovely tiaras will make a great gift to take home as well as to wear during the party and there are plenty of loot bag fillers for your guests. You can also get some nice butterfly or fairy candles for your birthday cake and topping your cake with these will put a smile on your birthday girl's face.
3. Disney Princesses Theme
In 3rd place we have yet another Disney franchise, Disney Princess. There are so many of them now that it's hard to keep track, but Cinderella, Ariel, Snow White, Mulan, Aurora, Belle, Tiana, Rapunzel, Jasmine and Pocahontas are the current members of the troop. The princesses are a great choice of birthday party theme and all the party supplies and accessories in this theme look really pretty. The most prominent characters are Cinderella, Belle, Snow White and Jasmine wearing their gorgeous dresses, but Arielle and Aurora also feature strongly. Again I would recommend the lovely tiaras, also check out the decorations and the balloons. This theme can easily be mixed with a plain colour theme as long as you choose pink, purple or some other pastel colour that matches your favourite princess.
2. Minnie Mouse Theme
We are not done with Disney yet, in 2nd place we have the adorable Minnie Mouse. You can never get enough of Minnie Mouse, I still love Minnie as an adult and all my three children love her too. She is just too cute to put away and her popularity all over the world is ever increasing. You can get lots of really nice decorations and accessories for the Minnie theme, nice balloons, banners, backdrops and dangling decorations. I will give the headwear a special mention again, the Minnie Mouse headbands are absolutely gorgeous and are a really nice take home prize for the guests. The cute treat purses are also really nice and you can get some fancy stickers, pencils and more. The Minnie Mouse theme is absolutely a safe bet and will put smiles on all the children's faces.
1. Dora the Explorer Theme
And in 1st place we have the already legendary Dora the Explorer. I know, it wasn't really a surprise, young girls adore this adventurous bilingual girl who goes on all these exciting adventures with her monkey friend, Boots and all her other animal friends. And you can't blame them for it. When my girls were younger, none of them could get away from the TV and even I was more than happy to sit and watch the action. Dora comes in three different theme designs, Dora and Friends, Dora Star-catcher and Dora fairytale. We have combined all these into just Dora, but don't think that any of them are not popular. No, they are pretty much all as popular as each other. You will have plenty to choose from when you go with the Dora party theme, plenty of loot bag fillers and decorations, but the Dora cake-tin is pretty exciting as you get to make your very own Dora. If you lack the enthusiasm, you could get away with somewhat less effort and just get the edible cake image to put on top of your cake. Do the cake right and you will be the hero of the day, at least in your own mind.
